Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Decision Labs, trading as Become Unplayable ("we", "us", "our"), is the data controller for personal data collected through becomeunplayable.com. We are based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, contact hello@becomeunplayable.com.

This policy explains how we handle your personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Personal data we collect

  • Founding Club sign-up: first name, email address, role (e.g. parent, coach), country, referral information, and the source or landing page you arrived from.
  • Orders: billing name, delivery address, email, and order details. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment processor (Stripe) — we do not see or store full card numbers.
  • Correspondence: any information you send us by email.
  • Automatically collected: device, browser, approximate location (from IP address), pages visited, and interaction events. See the Cookies section below.

3. How we use your data and our legal basis

  • To operate the Founding Club and notify you about new production batches — legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To process and fulfil your orders and provide customer support — legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • To send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates) — legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • To send occasional product updates to existing customers about similar products — legal basis: our legitimate interest (the "soft opt-in" under PECR). You can opt out at any time.
  • To measure and improve the site, prevent fraud and keep the service secure — legal basis: our legitimate interests.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations — legal basis: legal obligation.

4. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with trusted service providers acting on our behalf, including:

  • Hosting and database providers (to run this website).
  • Email delivery providers (to send you the emails you request).
  • Payment processor (Stripe) for card payments.
  • Analytics and advertising providers (Google Analytics, Meta / Facebook Pixel).
  • Zapier, to route new sign-ups into our internal tools.
  • Fulfilment and shipping partners, where applicable.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required to do so by law or to protect our rights.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or transfers to countries covered by UK adequacy regulations.

6. How long we keep data

We keep Founding Club data for as long as you remain on the waiting list. You can ask us to remove you at any time. Order and transaction records are kept for at least six years to comply with UK tax law. Analytics data is kept only as long as needed to understand site performance.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work. We also use analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) to understand how the site is used and to measure marketing performance. Non-essential cookies are set based on your consent, which you can manage or withdraw through your browser settings.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email we send.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@becomeunplayable.com. We will respond within one month.

9. Children

Become Unplayable is designed for young players aged 7–13, but our Founding Club and online purchases are intended for use by parents, guardians and coaches — not by children directly. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take our responsibilities seriously.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
